Rottingdean, East Sussex
A haven from the hustle and bustle of near by Brighton, Rottingdean, with Bronze Age barrows, has been settled for three thousand years . The early Norman church was built upon Anglo-Saxon remains . A noted haunt for smugglers Rottingdean was also home to Sir Edward Burne Jones, the pre -Raphaelite painter and his nephew, Rudyard Kipling, who wrote much of his best work here , and much of the village remains unaltered from their day .
